Eye and Vision Evaluation
The optometrist begins with a comprehensive eye exam to assess overall eye health and determine the current glasses prescription.This exam plus imaging are used to measure the curvature and shape of the cornea.
Lens Selection and Trial
Based on findings, the optometrist selects a trial pair of contact lenses (soft, rigid gas permeable, toric, or multifocal). The lenses are placed on the eyes to assess fit, movement, centration, and comfort.
Vision and Fit Check
After a short period, the visual acuity is checked and the eye is examined to ensure the lens aligns well with the cornea.
Patient Education
The patient is taught lens insertion and removal, cleaning and storage techniques, etc. Follow-up examinations.
